For this episode, Michael Respert joins us to discuss Harriet Tubman's legacy of strength and leadership. Harriet Tubman had to overcome limitations placed on African American slaves and women to become a renowned advocated for the liberation of slaves. And, she carried a pistol. And, she fought in the Civil War. And, she had brain surgery without anesthetics (because that's how the soldiers did it during the war). Michael Respert sees his grandmother's toughness in Harriet Tubman. He also learned, just like Harriet discovered, you can't free someone if they don't want to be free. For Michael, it was learning how to free himself.
